My stats: cGPA 3.315, sGPA 3.096 mcat 27 , CA resident
Terrible first year, (ended with cGPA 2.94), shows minimal upward trend. I feel my MCAT can't increase anymore, it is consistent with my practice test scores and I took it when I felt the most ready for it.
EC:
Hospital volunteering for 5 years, promoted to leadership position for last 2 years
research 16 hrs/wk for 8 months so far
worked as a graphic designer for a fashion store for two years
I also do some art commissions on the side, mostly birthday and holiday cards
I'm not in any clubs, due to lack of interest and I'm struggling enough with classes.
Is my app especially weak?
I think in this upcoming cycle I should apply to 1-3 lower-tier MD schools + Caribbean, and maybe 1-5 mid-low tier DO schools all OOS, but is even that a long shot?
Highly intimidated with the average GPA for DO schools being ~3.5 now, I feel that I'll get a inbox full of rejections at the end of the year.
Any advice on chances, how to improve, or any other comments are appreciated!
