Hey all, long-time lurker here.

I wanted to run my numbers by you all, as the collective knowledge and advice that this site seems to be capable of is remarkable.

cGPA 2.53 (i just finished the first of three terms of my junior year). I am a Bio major.

Clinical volunteer activities I served as a triage data collector for a traveling group of physicians who gave care to those in extreme poverty in Mexico City. (2 weeks / 1 summer)

Physician shadowing I have close to 50 hours from two different physicians and am lined up with another physician in a different dept. at a different hospital in the near future.

Research I will most likely be assisting a family friend (who is a physician) with his research this summer at a very highly regarded research institute. Additionally, my advisor at my uni wants to pair me up with an alumni at an R1 research institution during my senior year (of course, this isn't set in stone yet).

Nonclinical volunteer activities I have 80 hours and counting at The Hope Lodge, which is a lodge funded by the national cancer society for cancer patients

I realize that my GPA is my Achilles heel and even if i get straight As (which i intend on coming close to now that my attention deficit issues are sorted) it is impossible for me to get into medical school with these numbers.

That being said, I am fortunate enough to have very supportive and well-off parents who are willing to help fund post-bacc work, an SMP or even a second bachelor's degree if there is promise of achieving an undergrad cGPA of 3.3-3.4 when all is said and done. I realize that even this is not ideal, but I'm being realistic.

Because I have a ways to go before applying to a medical school, I am holding off on the MCAT so that I can REALLY be prepared for it.

I would like advice from you guys on what I should do, assuming I manage to 'walk the walk' and really pick up the pace by the time I graduate. Should i do post-bacc? Should I simply take classes as a "special student" until my uGPA is closer to the 3.3-3.4 range? Or would doing another 3 or 4 years and getting another bachelor's be necessary? I don't think an SMP would be a wise move considering my circumstances unless supplemented by one of the previously stated options.

...or if I am completely boned and no amount of hard work can undo the damage I would appreciate knowing now so that I can save my parents and I a lot of money.

Thanks in advance.
