hello all,
if anyone has time to read this, i'd really appreciate it.
i recently switched to become a business management major, and using it to apply to medical school. it was a personal decision and because of the switch, i have tacked on another year of undergrad (which i don't mind)
my current GPA is a 3.122 (made a D in calc1 and retook it and got an A, that basically set me to my lowest point)
i have orgo 1 and 2 plus labs, and 6 more hours of upper level bio classes, as well as 8-10 more business classes left to take. i'm hoping to score A's in all of these classes in order to drastically improve my grades. i used a grade calculator and basically figured out if i make straight a's for the rest of my undergrad career i can muster up a 3.5(ish) cum GPA. science gpa may be a little less. i hope to make at least a 30 on the mcat.
my EC's are:
-volunteered in ER for about 6 months, did clinical rotations 3 days a week for a year, currently volunteering at texas children's hospital in the oncology department
-spent a summer in Italy teaching Italian children English
-currently working as a piano teacher, teaching children and adults
-currently participating in physics heavy ion collision research (hoping to get one more research job in the biology department)
-vice president of the Persian Society at my university
-working for project c.u.r.e. (sorting and packaging medical supplies to send to 3rd world countries)
-going on a medical mission trip next winter to the Honduras
i am hoping my efforts will be worthwhile. if i pull a 3.5 GPA and at least a 30 MCAT score, do you think my chances are good? i don't plan on applying to any tier 1 medical schools. just within my home state (texas).
