MD & DO UNC/Brody admission

Hello everyone,

I am new on this forum, but I have been reading reading a lot from student doctor.
This is my concern: I came to the USA 2 years ago from a french speaking country; I had a master degree in economics, but it was not really my first choice. So, I decided to do medecine when I came to the US. Because I was not comfortable with english (3rd language), I decided to study nursing in order to practice more english and get familliar with the medical environment.

I registered at waketech community college, where I got AP1&2, PHY1&2, CHM1&2, ENG111&112, PSY 150&251, Calculus 1 all with As (SGPA 4.0). I got admitted to the Associate Degree of Nursing at WTCC. Honestly that sinked my GPA to 3.6.

I am currently Treasurer of the Executive Board of SGA, I was a senator for 1 year; i am Phi Theta Kappa member. I will start shadowing in a pediatric clinic next week, and I have a lot of volunteer experience with underserved population of Wake County.

I will take orgo and introductory bio this fall and next spring as well as microbiology. I think my projected SGPA will remain at 4.0, but my cGPA may go down due to nursing (cGPA 3.4). I currently enjoyed clinical experience that I gain from nursing as well as my job , as a CNA at REX hospital.

I took the mcat practice yesterday and scored 20 (BS 8, PS 8, VR 4). I know I can do much more better with adequate preparation, but I definitely know VR will be a challenge.
I plan to apply for the next cyle at UNC and Brody (both are my first choices); I am a NC resident and URM.

I really want to know what are my chances, and I would like any input to strenghten my application. Also, I would like any advice on how to prepare on the mcat knowing that VR is my weakness.

Thanks for your inputs.
