I currently work as a Nurse in a Burn/Trauma/Neurological Pediatric and Adult intensive care unit. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2 years ago and I currently have interest in applying for both D.O. and M.D. schools in hopes of gaining admission in 2014. I have done organic medicinal chemistry research that was published and had a poster presentation along with it; I am a volunteer language editor of a medical Journal in Europe, I have done community and volunteer experience, been vice president of a club on my college campus, I work at a level 1 Trauma center, I have shadowed a D.O. and I have shadowed a D.O. who functions as a General Surgeon. The medical journal language editing service I volunteer for is governed by an M.D. who has written me a letter of rec. I have letters of rec from teachers and from the two D.O.’s who I have shadowed. I am aiming for an MCAT score of 24-27. I am planning on applying to medical school in August. I take my MCAT on July 26th, 2013. I was wondering if it would be too late for me to apply to medical schools in August? Should I apply once I receive my scores? Should I apply right after I take my Mcat? It is hard for me to apply previous to taking my MCAT because I work full time on the night shift (7 days a pay period) and so every day I have off is needed for studying!! Thank you guys in advance for any advice you have!
