Basic Stats:
37o MCAT
3.9 cGPA
3.8 sGPA
1 first author pub, 2 other pubs (4th author type), 1 big invited conference presentation, 3 conference posters/presentations
300+ hours EC community service, about 6 other leadership positions
former D1 football player
MT resident, state school
'Target' is top 25 program: Realistic or not?
Aside from these activities and numbers which I am aware play a role, how much clinical shadowing/volunteer experiences would help? With my research I've worked in a hospital for a summer and a winter break, but as of now my shadowing has probably been around 50 hours. With my research in the hospital and interactions with patients and physicians there, I feel I have a great perspective (for a pre-med) on physician duties and responsibilities, but not sure 50 hours of shadowing communicates that on paper.
I'm sure from a admissions committee viewpoint the clinical shadowing/volunteering is my apps weak point, so just wanted to see how others would go about strengthening that or how much more clinical work would 'negate' that weak point.
