Hey guys!
I just wanted to see how I'm doing progress wise, and could use some help building a school list.
3.80 sGPA and 3.83 cGPA. 40 MCAT
I'm a little concerned about my GPA, just because I have 2 Bs in Gen Chem I and II as well as some Bs in classes I really shouldn't have gotten Bs in (Math for liberal arts and history of math back when I was completing my associates and didn't know what I was doing with my life.)
I've gone on to get good scores in the higher level classes of those areas (A in Calc I II and III as well as differential equations, and As in Organic I and II and Biochem). I'm hoping they'll look past the early issues.
Also, all of my science coursework was pressed into my junior and senior years because I was leaning towards liberal arts early in college. Not sure if that's an issue.
Extra Curriculars / honors:
1 year and ongoing research with a psychiatric research team (20 hours a week)
1 and a half years of hospital volunteering
1 year of library volunteering
Associate's Degree in General Studies with High honors
Phi Theta Kappa membership ( 2 year college honor society, requires 3.75 GPA or higher)
Published multiple creative writing pieces in the school newspaper
Member of the diversity club
Active in LGBT organizations on campus
I have letters of recommendation from the head of the psychiatry department of a local medical school, the pre health committee, and my advanced genetics and molecular biology professors
Schools I've thought of:
Boston University
Tufts
Harvard (A stretch but my parents will foot the bill for my applications)
And that's all I have right now...I'd love some recommendations for what my stats are a good fit for. I'd prefer to stay out of the deep south or with any religious affiliated schools as I'm gay and will be relocating with my fiance to wherever I get in.
