This sight has been so useful for me in terms of my quest to get into medical school. I figured I'd post this and see if I could get any responses.
I am applying to a wide range of MD/DO programs, but my top 2 choices are USUHS and PCOM.
GPA 3.1
sGPA 3.0
MCAT 32 PS 10 VR 11 BS 11
I have been working medical tech level jobs for a little over 4 years including a volunteer fire department (I was a Vol EMS LT for one of the years), private ambulance company, psych hospital, and children's hospital. I have volunteer experience with a community service organization and my volunteer fire dept. Some post bac work, but still have a 3.0 GPA in the two courses I've taken. I've taken biochem, cell bio, and micro bio in addition to the normal pre med classes.
Recommendations from a bio professor, physics professor, political science professor (that was my major), a supervisor in charge of the unit I used to work in, and a charge nurse.
I intend to explain that junior year of college when I became premed I took 4 lab sciences at once which was a poor decision and a reason for my low grades. I retook physics 1 and intro to bio 1 and did better the second time around. I have no military experience.
USUHS is my #1 choice for sure and I intend to apply the minute applications open up.
