MD & DO Canadian! traditional hard science masters

Hey guys,
I'm currently doing a traditional hard science masters at U of Toronto working on breast cancer. Didn't want to be a doc until recently, so I haven't written the MCAT, am doing it the summer but it's going to be during my master's so...we'll see.
cGPA 3.31 sGPA 3.39 as of now with a strong upward trend (~3.87 last two years), but I still have to take prereqs (long story, I did them but didn't get credit hours for most of them or got poor grades), which will bring me up to around cGPA 3.43 and sGPA 3.55 (assume 4.0s, which I'm confident I can get). For DO I'd have cGPA 3.58 s3.72 because of grade replacement for two C-s and a D-.
Does sGPA above cGPA mean anything?

ECs are really bad, I just started volunteering at a hospital, 4 hrs week, have done ~20 hours shadowing but I'm kind of a hermit so I have nothing to show really EC wise past 2 months ago. I'm still trying to figure out how to go about getting the experiences that give that "well rounded applicant" feel, I think I need to touch on leadership and non healthcare volunteering.
But I have a year or two before I'm applying, so I have some time to do things.

I know I can get into a DO school with these stats. My question to you guys is can I make this work at MD schools given a certain MCAT score, especially since I'm 1) White 2) Canadian 3) low GPA, and if so, which ones should I try at? I feel like applying to private schools (they take internationals) that are research focused so I can play to my research strength. But these schools (ex Case Western) seem to be top tier and therefore not likely to overlook my poor GPA, so I want to hear what you guys think.

I appreciate your time in helping me out guys.
