Longtime lurker here,
I'm a Canadian citizen completing my undergrad this year at UWO.
My Stats:
36P - 13PS 10VR 13BS
cGPA and sGPA are both 4.0*
My extracurriculars, based on my results with Canadian admissions, seem to be subpar:
I have about a year and a half of research experience; This includes a year of thesis work, and a summer funded by two competitive scholarships. No publications though.
I have about 130 hours of volunteering in the oncology ward of a local hospital, which involved close patient interaction, working with doctors and nurses. I've also been on a 2 week medical trip to Guatemala. I intend to find a shadowing position for this summer.
I have several years of tutoring in multiple forms, including working with a community organization to help high risk youth develop literacy skills. Another case is organizing and teaching review sessions for biochemistry in order to raise funds for building schools in Central America.
Other activities: Orientation leader for the entering class, participation in annual community cultural festival for 3 years, 2 years in a scientific journal club and recreational badminton player.
What are my chances like at a top tier school?
* Regarding my GPA, I'm a little uncertain about the conversion of my grades to AMCAS. Could someone verify that an 80+ at UWO is a 4.0?
