I am 28 years old. I graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 6 years. It took me longer for a variety of reasons. Anyway, my final GPA was a 3.3. I took the MCAT in 2006 and got a 28 without studying too hard. I applied to med school in late 2006 (late in the application cycle) and ended up not getting accepted to any med school.
I took a practice diag recently and got a 30. My weakness was OChem so I am starting to review OChem.
Since college, I worked for a couple of years and have taken time off for the last 2 years.
I know my chances of getting into med school are essentially zero with my current resume. What would be a good course of action for me to greatly improve my competitiveness as an applicant?
Would pursuring a post-bac program and finishing it quickly and getting high grades reduce or cause adcom to "ignore" to the greatest extent possible my undergrad performance.
Thanks!
Am I too old for pursuing a career in medicine? Or am I hopeless given my performance?
