Hey there, just the standard SDN chance me work up, please! I know from the sticky post that I have about a 90% chance of getting in somewhere, but I'm curious what my chances are at a top 20 school. I just received a letter from Harvard Med encouraging me to apply based on my MCAT/being a URM, which is why I'm writing this post ( I had always assumed I didn't have much a chance at the top schools)
------------------------------------

URM (hispanic)

35Q (11PS, 12VR, 12BS)

~3.69 Cum GPA, bio major. Even though my GPA isn't stellar for SDN standards, it was very high for my rigorous little liberal arts school. Graduated Cum Laude, was also awarded Honors in Major (5 out of 43 bio majors got this, it's a pretty major award at my school)

Hired as a research technician at a very highly regarded cancer research lab, will have worked there for 11 months by the time I send my primary in. The research is clinically based (processing cancer patient blood samples for mutations)

During summer breaks from college went on 2 "service learning" trips where I shadowed physicians in clinics in rural India and costa rica. These were about 2 months long each. During my last summer break of college I interned in the research lab where I now work.

Will have volunteered at free community clinic for about one full day a week for 6 months by the time I send my primary in. Will continue doing this until going to med school and will update schools accordingly.

TAd for biology professor for one semester, was also on two pre-med clubs all 4 years. Was a DJ at my college radio station.

National Merit Scholarship winner in high school, also National Hispanic Scholar. Not sure if either matter...

Thanks! :)

*Edit: assume I have good LORs and a normal number of shadowing hours by the time I apply...
