I've gone through and calculated my GPA for TMDSAS since I live in Texas and...
I have a 3.83 overall GPA and a pathetic 3.43 as my science. And if it weren't for 2 blasted B's in differential equations and cal III, it'd be a 3.85.
I'm a bit panicky because up until a few hours ago, I had no idea that math courses counted as part of my science GPA. At this point, my biggest regret is going for the math minor at all. My GPA would be so much higher if I hadn't.
Is my science GPA a dealbreaker for schools like UT Southwestern and Baylor? My other Bs were in both semesters of Ochem and Genetics. A's in bio, chem, physics, cancer bio, parasitology, biochem 2, evolution, linear algebra. Do schools even look at your overall transcript to see why the gap is so big or do they just look at that 3.43 and go, "F-- your life," and move on to Packet #234132?
I know this is premature considering I still have my MCAT score in limbo. By the time I've applied, I'd have a semester's worth of research, a summer of shadowing, and a semester of volunteering under my belt. Or perhaps you could tell me a decent MCAT score to shoot for considering this monstrosity.
