Hi all, trying to get some opinions about whether I should plan on reapplying. There are some things I would consider pursuing that require a 1 year commitment. I wouldn't want to have to back out if I do get an acceptance. I also don't want to miss out on opportunities by waiting til I've been rejected everywhere. A few months of silence, rejections, and deferrals can really shake one's confidence.
I've looked at my chances based on numbers, but I think that there are spots in my app that will give adcoms pause. I also applied top heavy ( I took my list to my advisor and she was very reassuring, list in mdapps), which could easily put me in the group of people that don't get in.
Basics:
MCAT 37 (13 PS, 13 VR, 11 BS)
GPA 3.8 (both)
I'm graduating in 3 years, which has led to my interviewers giving me veiled questions gauging my maturity. I think this may be the "make-it-or-break-it" point of my app.
EC's:
Basic research since freshman year - 1 pub
Summer camp counselor/ coordinator (leadership position)
co-founded/co-president of small arts club
dining hall worker
Bio teaching assistant and physics study group leader
~100 clinical volunteer hours + ~40 shadowing hours*
Community service events through other activities
+other small activities/hobbies
*both my interviewer and advisor say my clinical experience combined with my graduating early is the biggest question mark on my app
*details about schools in this cycle in mdapps
Should I wait it out, or should I begin planning to reapply and make commitments to activities that could strengthen my re-app?
Thanks a lot
