I'm currently a Junior with a cumGPA (after sophomore year) of 3.58 and BCPM of 3.62. I am going to apply in the Spring and by the time my junior GPA is factored in, I am confident I can get both my cum and BCPM to around a 3.70. The problem is my MCAT, which is a 30Q (12ps, 8v, 10bs). I'm seriously considering retaking in April/May but I don't know if it is worth it because I think the highest I can get on the retake is probably around a 33/34. Will I be able to get some interviews with a 3.7/30Q? Or should I retake the MCAT?
I'm not looking to get into any top 20 schools. I'm mostly applying to my state school+lower tier/mediocre schools. I go to a top 15 undergrad and at a recent meeting with my premed committee head, he told me that the average GPA/MCAT among first time appliers who got accepted into med school from my undergrad was a 3.64cumGPA/3.59BCPM/31.9P MCAT.
Some other info:
* 150 hours shadowing
* over 200 hours clinical volunteering (spread throughout 3 years so far)
* over 200 hours community volunteering (spread throughout 3 years so far)
* president of my community volunteering club
* NIH SIP (about 500 hours of research over the summer)
