Hello everyone,
My path hasn't been too straight forward and as a result I am not sure where I stand in terms of admission chances or how an ADCOM will look at my profile.
In a nutshell: Did my undergrad not really thinking about going the medical school route; had a slow start with a terrible GPA and subsequent improvement:
-Freshman cGPA: 2.26 :scared:
-So cGPA: 3.32
-J cGPA: 3.58
-Se cGPA: 3.85
After graduating and working in my field (public health) I realized that what I love and want to pursue is medicine, as a result I did a post-bacc to complete the pre-reqs (I already had a couple of the prereqs as they overlapped with major requirements in undergrad)
-post bacc cGPA: 3.8 and sGPA: 3.7
-Undergrad +post-bacc cGPA: 3.34 sGPA: 3.08 :scared:
MCAT (first try) 37 (VR 13, PS 12, BS 12)
ECs:
* 8 years as EMT-B (5000+ hours and counting)
* 8 months and counting as medical interpreter
* ~400 hours public health research (however little to no biomedical research :/)
*~300 hours and counting volunteering (admin/non-clinical) at clinic for immigrants and minority populations
Other relevant info:
*URM (Hispanic)
*MD resident
Any insight or advice will be greatly appreciated
Thank you!
