Hi, I'm new to posting here but have been lurking for a while. I am looking to apply during 2014 for the entering class of 2015, graduated undergrad in 2012 but did a one year non thesis masters this past year that required me taking some graduate level classes during second semester of my senior year.
Undergrad cGPA-3.526
Graduate cGPA-3.78
Have not taken MCAT but planning to take it late may of 2014. I
I still also need to take orgo and physics so I am planning to do those this fall and spring at a 4 year university.
I will have good LORs (already know who im planning to ask barring an excellent relationship from either my orgo or physics profs) but not from a committee.
My EC's are good (I think!)-
-president of school equestrian team for two years, led team to first natl competition appearance as well as championships at smaller competitions throughout the year
-worked 20 hrs a week for 4 years teaching horseback riding lessons during the school year and working as a camp counselor and camp director for the stables at which I worked.
-volunteered as a bird banding research assistant for three summers, this past summer doing technical work on an avian malaria parasitology study( extracting blood, putting it in a lysis buffer, etc)
-worked as a research assistant from October-may of my graduate year, assisting a phD student in her work on plankton from the Gulf of Mexico
-volunteered in an ER for a year (16 hrs per week), hoping to shadow a doctor this upcoming year--need to get on that!
I am going to apply all over the place, but I am really looking at Tulane, both LSUs, and Wake Forest.
So what do y'all think? Hard to judge without an mcat score, I'm sure...
