Hello all,
I am 28 year old pursuing MD after 4+ years out of school. I went to wash u and had terrible grades, 2.44 AMCAS uGPA and 1.7 BCPM GPA. I worked in the medical software field and politics for a few years, then I had a "spiritual" experience and now pursuing MD again. I have taken half the pre-med courses at local CC and gotten 4.0. I am doing research at an FDA internship and will start a medical scribe job in the next month or so.
My question is should I focus on raising my GPA to above 3.0 or focus on the ECs + taking a few hard/upper level sci courses to prove that I can handle difficult coursework. On the one hand, taking a 500 level bio class and acing it seems like a good idea. On the other hand, unless i get my BCPM and CUM gpa to above 3.0, it doesn't seem like it would matter?
I plan to apply next summer for Fall of 2015 to my state school. I am contemplating taking like 24 credit hours this summer taking low-level Bio and Math classes to raise my BCPM gpa. What do you all think?
Thanks for your help and advice,
HH
