Hey everybody. This is my first post. I was hoping someone could give me a better idea on my chances at med school acceptance and where I should apply. As the title says, my cGPA, according to the AMCAS method, is a 3.47 and my BCPM is roughly a 3.2. I just got my MCAT back today and got a 32 (Verbal-14, Physics-10, Bio-8....I know, an interesting breakdown). I am a rising senior at the University of Maryland. I plan to apply to basically every medical school in the country, both MD and DO (the application fees are not really an issue) as well as to Ross in the Caribbean.
Clinical Experience: I did a rather intensive program at Franklin Hospital in NY last summer that involved rotating through nearly every specialty (such as surgery, internal medicine, psychiatry, emergency medicine, etc.) In addition, this summer I am shadowing one of the top orthopedic surgeons in NY.
Research Experience: Two summers ago, I was a Research Intern in a program at North Shore-LIJ (in NY). My responsibilities were rather insignificant and really just involved having patients in the ER fill out surveys. Now, I am currently conducting research with the doctor I shadow. He has assured me that it is important research and should be published in late december (during interview time). Side question: How should I put this on the AMCAS application since it hasn't yet been published?
Volunteering: For the past months of April to May, I was a volunteer tutor for elementary school children from underserved areas of D.C.. In addition, I am a member of a fraternity and take part in many of my school's philanthropy events (Thon for Children's National Medical Center, and Run for Love for House of Ruth and One Love Foundation against domestic violence)
Employment: I worked as a barback/busboy at a restaurant during July of 2011. I worked as an Inventory Manager for a supermarket during July of 2010. Also, don't know if its worth mentioning but during my freshman year of high school I acted in a made-for-TV Nickelodeon movie.
