I just submitted my AMCAS today, so now the only thing left for me is my MCAT. So far, I have taken 4 AMCAS practice tests, and here are my scores
-Test #3 - 27
-Test #4 - 25 (Gonna retake this one, I wasn't that focused during the test)
-Test #5 - 28
-Test #7 - 28
I am hoping to break 30 soon, and hopefully that will carry over to the real deal. I have been feeling better as the tests have gone on, so I think I can get a little bit better.
Here's my breakdown
-3.81 cGPA, 3.75 sGPA, Physics BA with huge upward trend (3.93 in sophomore-junior year combined). I am going into my senior year.
-1 semester of RA experience (250 hours), with 2 more next year
-3500 hours of retail employment wile in school and during breaks.
-400 hours of tutoring
-40 hours hospital volunteering
-1 publication (not research)
-various leadership experiences
-New York State resident
-Non URM
-Some shadowing experience, but it is growing. (Not really a major part of my application)
Here's a list of schools I'm applying to:
-SUNY Downstate
-SUNY Upstate
-SUNY Stony Brook
-SUNY Buffalo
-Albany
-Rochester
-NYMC
-NYU
-Einstein
-Mount Sinai
-Columbia
-Cornell
-Hofstra
-UNC
-Boston University
-Penn State
-Temple
Honestly, I'm happy with just one acceptance. I'd love to go to somewhere in the city, like Downstate or something. I understand that some of those schools might be out of my reach, but I figured I'd shoot for the stars a little bit. What do you think my chances are if I end up with a 28, like I have been getting? What about a 30? What do you think I need? Thanks for your feedback.
