I've been an accounting major the past two years, but now I'm considering switching to Pre-Med in my junior year. I have a good GPA (3.98) from a pretty good school (University of Miami). I feel as though I may able to do well in my science classes and on the MCAT, but I'm worried about med-school for a few reasons:
1. As stated in my title, I have almost nothing to put on my resume. The only club I've joined was Ethics Society, which I did for only one semester. I have no leadership experience, volunteer work, shadowing, etc. I can try to become more active in school, but to do so while trying to cram all those weed-out pre-med courses (i.e. O Chem) in the next two years will be challenging to say the least.
2. If I go to med-school, I most likely will not be able to afford to go anywhere out of state. So, that leaves only 3 schools: FSU, USF, or UF. The only way I can finish my pre-reqs on time is if I switch out of accounting to a major such as biology, but if I don't get into med-school I'll be stuck with a useless bio/chem degree.
Anyways, is med-school even a possibility at this point, or should I just give up now and save myself the suffering?
