I wanna know how my EC's are and see if I'll be good to go at most schools.
Clinical Experience:
- 150 hours volunteering at a free clinic since this past August; lot of patient interaction
- 100 hours volunteered as a care extender in the hospital from May 2011 to November 2011; some patient contact though not as much as at the free clinic
- 80 hours total of shadowing a neurosurgeon, general surgeon, and PCP (both in the OR and in clinic)
- 60 hours for a medical mission trip to Panama; took patients' histories and assessed their conditions; measured their vital signs
Research:
-500 hours in an interventional neuroradiology lab since August 2011; clinical research; led a couple of my own projects; my abstract got published in the Stroke Journal and I presented a research poster at the International Stroke Conference
Non-Medical Volunteering:
-400 service hours and 750 administrative/social hours put into Circle K International since September 2011; also was an officer for a year; mentored a new member for a year too
-50 hours on a Spring Break Trip with Habitat for Humanity; built houses in New Orleans
Tutoring:
-400 hours working as a tutor at a tutoring center for underserved students
Miscellaneous Activities:
-Social fraternity since September 2010; was an officer for 1 year
-Had a job freshman year at the campus cafe
-Been participating in a culture club (moderate level of involvement)
-Participated in a study abroad program in Europe through my school; 5 weeks long; studied European history
-Hobbies- been playing chess and tennis for 10+ years now; I joined club tennis here at my school; we didn't really have a chess club or anything like that
