Hello all,
In 2011, I received an Associate's Degree in Science and graduated with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. I am currently in the process of completely my Bachelor's Degree in biology. As of now, I also have a 3.5 cumulative GPA. My issue is that I have unofficial withdrawals and NC's (no credit) on my transcript. I understand that an unofficial withdrawal is equivalent to an F, but since I took the courses over and received A's, the unofficial withdrawals are no longer calculated in my GPA. For a couple of my courses I chose the no credit option, which is also equivalent to an F. I know that when I am ready to complete my AMCAS application, the unofficial withdrawals will be calculated into my GPA though I have taken the courses over. I also understand that NC will be calculated as an F when completing my AMCAS application. This makes me really discouraged with regard to applying to M.D. schools. I know that D.O. schools have a different policy when calculating the GPA, and only include the last attempt of a repeated course. I was just wondering, if I first receive a Master's in biomedical sciences and do relatively well, do I have a shot at being accepted into a D.O. school? I really regret that there is so much inconsistency in my academic record, but I really hope that I can make up for it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
