Hi all,
I'm having some trouble nailing down my school list, and I would really appreciate your expert advice! :) I'm 21, a CA resident, and I'm not at all underrepresented.
Academics
Lower-mid tier UC graduate; received BS cum laude in Biology.
3 years, honors program graduate, bio honors program graduate.
cGPA 3.75, sGPA 3.70
MCAT
12 VR, 13 PS, 14 BS
ECs
290 hours (3 years) spent volunteering at a local hospital (emergency room, info desk, etc).
250 hours (4 months) spent shadowing surgical residents and attendings of different specialties.
I also worked in food service and as a writing tutor (200 hours) throughout undergrad, and I play a lot of volleyball (though not competitively).
Research
1200+ hours (almost 2 years). Second author on a publication, fifth (or something) author on another paper in preparation. Won a basic undergrad award for my presentation of the research, as well as a stipend for undergrad research one summer.
Plans
I was just hired at a nursing home where I'll be working part-time as a CNA for the next year. I'll also be working part-time in a clinical lab.
I had just received my MCAT score when I drafted this list, so I was overly optimistic about my chances. I know my ECs are thin and my GPA is weak, and I can't see much personality coming out of my application, so I think I have probably applied to too many reaches.
Jefferson
USC
SUNY upstate
SUNY downstate
OHSU
Temple
Tufts
UCD
UCI
University of Chicago
UNC
Baylor
BU
Dartmouth
Northwestern
University of Colorado
Georgetown
UCLA
UCSD
UCSF

Stanford
If you could help me narrow this list down/slap some sense into me, that'd be great. Thanks in advance for the advice!
