Hi SDN,
Thank you in advance for your help. I am finalizing my school list, and I want to make sure I am thinking about Reach vs. Match vs. "Safety" correctly based on stats. The list is below, and I appreciate your feedback - I have a lot of reaches, so if you have more match suggestions, I would appreciate that in particular. Also, are my matches really matches? They all seem like competitive schools, which makes me nervous - should matches actually be a little below your stats, given the nature of the process?
Attended Top 5 undergrad. CA resident, but east coast preference (family). 3.77cGPA/3.82SGPA, 35 MCAT.
I realize that ECs play a HUGE role in where you actually fit, but I have a good sense of how my ECs and LORs affect my application already, so I am looking for stat input. EC summary:
In sum, I just want to make sure I am aiming right for my stats, and then I am going to work hard to sell myself :naughty: errr...my ECs in the primary (submitted), secondaries, and interviews if they come.
Reach:
U Chicago-Pritzker
Cornell Wiell
Harvard
Johns Hopkins
Duke
U Penn
Stanford
Columbia
UCSF
Mayo
Match
Emory
Dartmouth
Brown-Alpert
Boston U
Tufts
NYU
Safety
Jefferson
Drexel
Temple
Thank you again!

- strengths = took a few years "off" post-college and had a unique,health-related, employment/leadership/research/community service experience, have medical research, strong leadership in UG, a lot of non-medical volunteering. Strong LORs.
- weakness = little clinical experience, but I have physician parents so I have seen a lot of medicine, and I am working on experience in the upcoming year.
In sum, I just want to make sure I am aiming right for my stats, and then I am going to work hard to sell myself :naughty: errr...my ECs in the primary (submitted), secondaries, and interviews if they come.
