Hello WAMC! I've been eagerly awaiting the time I can post a WAMC thread, and now that I have my MCAT score the time seems right! FYI, I will be applying next summer and taking a gap year.
Residence: PA
Stats:
cGPA - 3.9+
sGPA - 3.9+
MCAT - 35 (balanced)
LizzyM - 74+
ECs thus far:
Research - ~240 hours in organic chemistry
Varsity Sport - ~240 hours at a very small school (how will this be viewed?)
Clinical Volunteering - ~200 hours - ED volunteering
TA - ~160 hours - various classes
Tutoring - ~130 hours - various classes
Lab Assistant - ~130 hours - micro lab
Club Sport - ~80 hours - transferred to a large school and continued playing my sport at the club level
Nonclinical Volunteering - ~20 hours - teaching-related
Awards - Honors program, small departmental awards
Assorted hobbies - reading, sports, and physical fitness
For the remainder of the summer, I'll be adding a few more nonclinical volunteering hours and shadowing in IM, anesth., and surgery; does it matter if I don't shadow a primary care doc?
Next year I will be proctoring exams, joining several clubs, and *hopefully* doing more research and shadowing.
I haven't decided on what I'll be doing during my gap year yet...
Anyway, here's my school list:
Reach:
Penn
Columbia
Target:
Vanderbilt
Duke
Pitt
Case Western Reserve
Mt. Sinai
NYU
USF
Safety:
Jefferson
Temple
Drexel
PSU
TCMC
Any advice on my list? Thanks for your time!
