Graduated this past May, NY resident
BA History, minor in Chemistry
Major GPA: 3.5
c/sGPA:3.4
MCAT: 35 = 12P/9V/14B
ECs:
One summer volunteering as a camp counselor working with inner city children and one summer working as a science/math/ESL teacher at the same camp
Worked one year at a Refractive Surgery where I assisted in 100+ cases in the operating room, and have spent 1000+ hours working there. Also conducted some in house research.
Worked in Oncology/Hematology/Internal Medicine clinic for three months.
Worked with an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon for 6 months.
LORs:
1) I have one from my history faculty i wrote my thesis with.
2) I have one from my Refractive internship MD (he went to from Dartmouth, Columbia, Harvard, Emory, and NYU Stern)
3) One from the Oral Surgeon.
4) One from the Oncologist.
Note on GPA: my first 2.5-3 years i fluctuated between around a 3.2 GPA. My last 36 credits averaged a 3.8GPA all in upper level courses. Also my parents were going through a divorce during my first three years in college which really affected me.
Any thoughts on schools and chances? I'm applying to all SUNY schools, NYMC, and Albany right now.
