Hi Guys,
I'd really really appreciate some feedback. I got a 31 on my MCAT this month but it's unbalanced: 11/11/9 but I've chosen not to retake so I can focus on my other interests and I want to apply this cycle.
Female ORM PA Resident
My cGPA is a 3.74 at a top 50 private college in the MidWest.
My sGPA is a 3.70
Biology/Spanish Major
But both are on an upwards trend.
I am a rising senior.
Extracurriculars/Leadership:
~800 hours for the past year working towards bringing a Camp Kesem to my university.
[Led the initiative and won the Camp and a grant-- Camp Kesem is a camp for children with loved ones affected by cancer]
~50 hours last summer as an International Orientation Leader
~50 hours my freshmen year as a part of a leadership program
~50 hours from my freshmen year on as a representative of a cultural organization. Helped plan and PR for events.
Shadowing:
~60 hours mostly in Emergency Medicine, but some in Internal & Oncology.
Service:
~50 hours my junior year as a non-medical volunteer at an underserved nursing home nearby.
~50 hours my junior year as a book cart volunteer at the Cancer Hospital.
~30 hours my sophomore year as a part of Alpha Phi Omega ( Co-Ed Service Fraternity)
Research:
~400 hours for the past year( including last summer) as a student researcher at the Cleveland Clinic. I'm working on my own study under a project scientist.
~250 hours for the past three years as a clinical research associate in the Emergency Department. I'm the PI of my own study, I've heavily data-collected for studies, and I'm on the executive committee of a student led research team (I guess this also encompasses clinical and leadership) I've also given three poster presentations for this study.
Personal Statement is based on experience as a childhood cancer survivor and on cultural competence due to having lived in a few urban and rural cities growing up.
