I have a few questions if anyone can help me out. I have a decent GPA (hopefully above a 30 on my mcats), have worked in a neuroscience lab for a year, volunteered with elderly for three years 2 hrs/wk (similar to hospice but not considered clinical), and have had a job for four years (2 years 40 h/wk, 2 years 20 h/wk). I was a preceptor last semester, have done about 50 h of shadowing over the past year.
My issue: I am applying to med school this summer, although I am not taking my mcats until August. My chances of getting in this round are greatly reduced by this.
Secondly- I am looking through schools I want to apply to, and most of the schools I initially considered have extremely low out of state acceptance- in which case I don't even want to apply. And many schools automatically send secondaries, as indicated in the msar. I prefer to apply to schools who screen applicants before sending a secondary, due to time and money constraints.
Finding schools to apply to is showing to be extremely difficult.
If anyone has any advice/comments/suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
