Hey guys
I'm starting to finalize the schools I'm applying to and needed some guidance from SDN based on OOS-friendly and other circumstances I'm about to describe.
STATS:
VA Resident
3.48 GPA
-strong upward trend (roughly 3.8 for past 2.5 years of college, 1 very bad sophomore semester while pledging my fraternity)
31 MCAT (10P, 11V, 10B)
EC:
Research at NASA for 2 summers in systems engineering, 1 publication
Research through school for 2.5 years, working with dietary drug treatments versus CVD
Teaching Assistant - microbiology
Shadowed urologist, pediatric cardiologist, and cardiologist (100+ hours)
Volunteer mentor for local low-income elementary school "big brother" program (2 years)
Various leadership positions - college ambassador, fraternity scholarship chair, residential leadership program, etc.
Helped organize fraternity related philanthropy for 3 years raising 20K+ for Children's Miracle Network each year
Gap year activity: scribing in ER on weekend/nights & 40 hour p/week independent clinic scribe
Other issues: Run ins with the law for underage alcohol (DUI at 19 after NYE sleeping in my car, wasn't driving but doesn't matter - incident free since, learned a lot, grades picked up dramatically since then, please include this fact in your evaluation but again, learned my lesson and know how DUIs are seen among SDN members and adcoms but plan to convey growth from the incident)
Tentative School List:
VCU
VT
EVMS
UVA (super-reach)
Rosalind Franklin
Drexel
GW
Georgetown
Creighton
Emory (super-reach)
Loyola
NYMC
Oakland
Temple
Tufts
Wake Forest
Tulane
Hofstra
Looking to edit it and add a few more given my situation/lower stats. I plan on applying early and broadly so please suggest more schools as I'd like to do 20+ and let me know if I'm being too unrealistic with a lot of these and if I should remove them. I really appreciate y'alls input especially people like Catalystic who really knows his stuff.
Thanks in advance!
