Hey all,
I am currently enrolled in the Kaplan advantage anywhere class, with a goal to take the Jan MCAT, apply to DO/MD school in June. My sGPA is 3.32 overall GPA is 3.51, 3+ years of research, 1.5 years of ER volunteer work, just started volunteering in the birthing center & will be for the next 8 months, getting my DO shadow on starting next week.
Here's the deal: I graduated last Dec and am working full time (40+ hrs a week), volunteering 4 hrs/week, studying for MCAT (Thursday classes, 8-11pm), preparing for my committee letter of rec, and meanwhile--trying to have a life. I am also planning on shadowing some DOs coming up in the next week.
With all of that going on, even though my MCAT classes are every week, I am having trouble staying on top of my goal of 15 hrs/week of studying for my Jan MCAT. Should I wait until March and study longer......or take it in Jan and have the fallback of taking it in March if my score isn't great?
Also, what would you say my chances are for some DO schools in the southeast along with ECU (MD) and/or TOURO? It took me a long time to commit to finally applying so I want to do it right. Thanks everyone.
