VA resident, 3.98 GPA (4.0 Science). 29M MCAT (10BS, 10PS, 9VR).
Extracurriculars: Organic/General Chem tutor 2 years, employed through University
Research 3 yrs, team leader, possible publication, many presentations
Volunteer at ER for ~ 1.5 years about 3 hrs/week
Teaching assistant for research professor 2yrs.
60+ clinical hours, observed surgeries
great letters, one committee letter, one from MD, two science faculty
Ok so I know that my MCAT is low. I took it in August 2012 (really early) hoping to get ahead and get it out of the way (applying 2013 cycle). Pre-med advisor said not to take the MCAT again so I didn't. Applying to mostly local schools: VCU, UVA, EVMS (in state), and many of the out of state schools surrounding VA and the DC area. Feeling pretty good about my stats with VCU and EVMS, below average at UVA. Will my MCAT score hurt me? What are my chances at private schools? (Bowman Grey/Wake Forest) Obviously I am not applying to the top tier schools (hopkins, duke, ivy league) but I have really sold myself to this process. Hoping to get in more than one school! Any insight is greatly appreciated!!
