Hi guys!
I just wanted to see where I stand with my current stats.
I'm graduating in May with a double major in Biology and Psychology. I did a lot of dual credit in high school and entered college as a Junior my first year. I will graduate with my double major in three years.
My current stats are
3.62 cGPA
3.33 sGPA
(don't know if it helps but I have a 4.0 Psych GPA - most likely not since psych classes are not counted towards science gpa)
- One year doing research at a research lab
-Summer research at Brown
I am NOT applying for schools soon. I am 20 years old and I just wanted some advice to increase my chances before I start applying.
Should I do a post - bac program for a year and then apply? How much emphasis do medical schools or DO schools look at for post-bac programs? Right now, I'm just considering to do a lot of volunteer work for the next year or two for clinical hours and experience. Also, I am looking for jobs related to health care/patient care contact. I haven't take the MCAT yet either. I plan to do that within this coming year so I can really focus on studying for it.
What kind of volunteer experiences or ECs in general do MD/DO schools want?
I just want advice on what should I do for the next year or two after I graduate in May. Any advice would be great! If I'm 20, I'm hoping to apply when I'm around 22 when I really have great ECs and MCAT (hopefully a year worth of studying consistently will help).
Thanks!! :)
