Hi guys,
Been lurking this forum for a while now, and decided to register today in hopes of perhaps attaining some guidance and relieving some frustration. My story is not a traditional one, and probably will shock you to some degree. Here it is.
I graduated from high school in 06 and went to U of T in 06/07 with my dream of studying medicine 4 years down the road. I really did not know how to handle university and probably went the wrong one as well (total social awkwardness from what I was used to). I also got a part time job which was easy money, and got carried away with making money than focusing on school. Over the 4 years spanning university I ended up attaining 5 full credits and a gpa lower than 1.0, and on probation. Last year I did not bother enrolling in courses as I was told I would never be able to bring my gpa above 3.0 doesn't matter how well I did in any course. I was heartbroken as reality started to sink in and didn't know what to do, watching my peers graduate, and onto a Masters or Phd. I really wanted to help people so I started my own business, health supplements. Financially I did excellent, but inside I was truly heartbroken and devastated as I knew my business is a fad business and in reality I wasn't helping anyone.
As of now my business is for sale, and my plan is to apply to another university with my high school transcript and start from scratch, and go the traditional way. Thats the only idea I have, and possibly the last feasible one at that. I really do not want to go to the Caribbean, and I really want to get into med school here in Canada.
What would your advice to someone in my situation be? Please keep any negative comments at bay, as I already have to endure enough of those from family.
Thank you all.
